Brandon had his first round of injection in his eye, and it went well. He actually has regained some vision and it is expected more vision will return with the subsequent injections. He should have already had injection 2 but he postponed it and it will be the first week of May. The unfortunate thing was that he felt the first shot of the anesthesia in his eye, but was brave and didn't move. I on the other hand was cringing and wincing the WHOLE time! We are very happy that some of his vision is returning and will continue to pray and hope for the best with the next one.
I had my doctor's appointment with the specialist, and no surgery yet. I did have a biopsy done and it came back just fine, which I had expected it to. I am waiting for the doctor's office to call me and schedule a follow up visit, at which time I think the final decision will be made as to whether or not surgery is required. The specialist wanted to try a less invasive approach first, which I am pleased with.
Dominic is growing so fast! It simply amazes me to watch him every day. I think my favorite time of the day is when he wakes up and smiles at me or when I wake up to his singing. since I last blogged he has become an expert at rolling over and loves being on his tummy! I know it will be only a matter of time before he is completely mobile! He already has figured out how to scoot all around and is able to tuck his legs up underneath him, or prop himself up on his arms, but has not quite figured out how to do it at the same time! I noticed just yesterday he is beginning to get blisters on his toes from pushes himself to scoot. Dominic has begun eating cereal, which he isn't too fond of, and more recently sweet potatoes, which he absolutely loves! He also enjoys grabbing the spoon to help feed himself...I think I had a very independent little boy on my hands here!

Brandon and I decided to do something for ourselves and took a class to become SCUBA certified! We had such a blast we also took the Advanced Open Water class, where we got to do some really neat dives. I will begin with our first dive at Corona Del Mar, it was freaking cold! And on top of that the visibility wasn't very good, but I sucked it up and dealt with it. there were 12 of us diving together, so we spilt up into 2 groups which helped, and we had some really cool SCUBA instructors, named Dominick and Issac. The second dive of the day, I got so cold it was hard to enjoy the dive, but I held on and saw a really cool crab, called a sheep crab.
The following weekend went boarded the Catalina Expressed with Brandon's parents and a buddy of ours and set sail for Catalina. If you haven't been to Catalina, I would recommend it, we had a blast!!! We went over on Friday night and rented a condo so we would be a little more comfortable with Dominic. Grandpa and I walked through the town with Dominic and enjoyed the scenery. We ate at El Galleon Friday night and were surprised when kareoke started before we left the restaurant. I guess kareoke is what Catalinians do for fun on the weekends, regardless it was fun. Saturday morning, Brandon, Keith (our buddy), and I headed down to the boat to meet the rest of our SCUBA group. Dominic went for a walk with Grandpa and got a chance to see some more of the island, all the while mommy and daddy were exploring Catalina underwater! Brandon and I had a two great dives that morning, but I personally think the best dives came that evening and the next day. I got really brave and geared myself up for our first ever night dive. Now if you know me, you would know that water and night together scare the crap out of me! Especially because marine life that isn't out during the day is out at night....and everything seems more scary at night. But, I did it, and it was the most incredible thing ever! It took me awhile to get down and I had to make myself stay calm and CLOSE to the group, but we saw lobsters, eels, different types of fish, and our SCUBA instructors saw a leopard shark. The best part of the whole dive was turning off our dive lights, and waving our hands around and seeing bioilluminesence. It was sooo beautiful, I can't even really describe it expect it was like seeing glitter floating in the air. We also took a moment to look up to the rotunda that was on the surface all lit up, it truly was like being in a different world. Sunday morning was jam packed with 3 dives all before we left for home. We did a peak performance buoyancy dive, a deep dive (80+ feet), and a wreck dive. I think my second favorite dive was the deep dive to a boat. It was pretty cool, except the deeper you go, the less time you have down there, so we didn't get a chance to stay down too long, but it was so beautiful looking down the chain and looking at our group all lined up on the chain. On the way to the boat we stopped and had lunch at the Pancake cottage in Catalina with the best waitress Muriel, whom happened to think Dominic was really cute! The whole weekend was a blast and I can't wait to go back. Next year I want to participate in Clean up Catalina day. It is a day where hundreds of SCUBA divers get together and dive to pick up the trash in the ocean, they have all kinds of awards and stuff for items picked up, anyways, it sounds like fun, so I think I am going to do it.
Brandon and I just dove in Laguna this weekend at a cove known as Crescent Bay. The water was a little cold, but we had a blast and helped out with the Rescue Diver class by role playing for them. It was cool and we saw another Sheep Crab and a ton of sea lions...well not close up but they were close enough to hear.
Hmm, lets see, what else do I have to say? Oh, Brandon's accident...the other insurance company FINALLY accepted responsibility...meaning, oh gee, I guess the 17 year old was at fault and did run the red light. Surprise surprise! I guess the traffic officer and the video of the accident was right. Anyways, we bought a new car, I got a Ford Fusion. Brandon keeps asking me if I like my car, it's a car. It will never be my mustang, but it is a car that gets me from place to place safely. It has four doors which makes it very nice and the doors almost open up 90 degrees which makes getting the car seat in and out easier.
Ok I really think that may be all of it. I am sure I missed something, but I will try to get better about blogging again!
All my love, to each of you! Take Care,
Dawnnie
